Beginner - Intermediate Felting Projects
Felting techniques for the beginner or intermediate felter.
Numerous small projects will be completed in this full-day class. A decorated felt ball will demonstrate the use of both felting needles and the wet-felting technique. Pre-felted inlays will be made and incorporated into a basic flat felt piece. Embossed felt will be made and utilized to make a small felt pouch. Gossamer felt technique will be taught to make a sample piece in which silk will be utilized for surface design.
Felted Vessel (Half-Day
Class) Using the resist method, a 6-inch tall felted vessel will be constructed using dyed merino wool. This project will demonstrate the technique of felting around an existing vessel such as a glass jar in order to create a basic hood. Using a second vessel as a mold, the felt will be stretched over until dry to create the finished form. Application of stiffener paste will be addressed and utilized as time permits. Beginner and intermediate felters welcome.
