Silk Hankies are the cocoons that have been spread out on a frame. Mawata refers to this type of silk preparation in which the softened cocoons are spread onto a frame. Our hankies have been beautifully dyed and are ready to embellish your fiber arts projects, or you can spin them. These hankies are layered and our 10 gram (.35 oz) packs have approximately 16 to 18 hankies. They make beautiful embellishment for your felting projects.

+ Denotes colourways which have slightly less wash-fastness. They contain a bright "fuchsia-like" dye which is slightly less wash-fast than our other dyes. This is a common characteristic for any fuchsia dye.
Helpful hint: To separate the hankies look for a thick line around the edges, which when peeled away is one cocoon (very gossamer like a spider web), or several layers can be peeled away at once for a thicker effect. the hankies are approximately 25cm square. There are approximately 16-18 hankies per 10 grams (approx .35 oz).
